All she had tried had failed.

Griffus was undoubtedly much more protective of the hens of the vixen than herself, who loved them more than anything. She never showed the slightest doubt about the carnivore to the point of letting him roam freely in the henhouse.

But Griffus has unparalleled pride and still considers himself the best rooster in the barnyard. Viviane could not bring a single rooster without it ending in a noisy chase across the farm. Which worried her all the more because she did not know if he would do the same with the presence of male chicks.

She had tried to let various male animals near Griffus, but none had been able to live in peace. He had even literally gobbled one of the rabbits that the vixen had placed in the pen. She then had tried the advice of farmer friends and gave him a bag of flour with a false crest in the shape of a rooster one. She had found him crushed by the mass of Griffus, apparently afraid of losing to a sack of flour.

In spite of that, she finally tried with the last solution: she let young chicks play happily in front of the beast. She knew there was one or two males in the lot, and crossed her fingers. To her joy, Griffus's face lit up before he tenderly took the nearest chick - male, however. Even Griffus's ego could not go against these adorable little featherballs.

It remained that she will surely have to separate them when they will take their color of rooster...
