Description It did not matter.
Loki hauls his unconscious brother onto his back and to safety. Picking up The Hammer was an afterthought.

* To those who feel the need to say that no one can carry Thor's hammer other than Thor. This image has been on Tumblr for months and months and I've already heard the arguments that he can and that he can't. I'm here to tell you he's carrying it so don't bother. Thanks!

Reminds me of the end of the first Harry Potter: Only those who wish to find the stone *but not use it* can retrieve it from the Mirror.

Here, it's like Loki's worthiness is because he's not focused on Mjolnir at all, not caring about its power or planning to use it for himself, so much as maybe getting it out of the way of enemies and ensuring that it's right there for Thor when he's well.

Not that that's the only way to be able to lift it, or the only reason Loki himself might be able to lift it at any given time, but a good enough reason right here.

Hi! I just saw this picture and it left me in awe. It inspired me to write a story and would you let me use it as preview image? I will insert the link in the description where everyone can purchase for a print. If you wouldn't like me to use it as preview image that's totally okay too.

Have a nice day!

I can hear Loki saying to the wounded and possibly dying Thor, "You shouldn't have done that, not for me, not after what I've done..." And after picking him up, "Come along, let's get you somewhere safe, brother...

I think Loki was always worthy of the Hammer. It was people's low opinions and mockery of him that made him believe he was unworthy. Odin was no help in that department

I knew Loki still loved Thor deep down (even in the comics I heard that he even sacrifices his life for him.) I think it would make sense that he could carry Thor's hammer because what matters most is protecting his brother and he's carrying the hammer for Thor rather than for himself. I wonder why the other Avengers can't pick up Thor's hammer (other than Steve Rogers/Captain America I heard but that makes senseΒ because he has a heart of gold) because you'd think they'd be as worthy as Thor.

Anyone can carry Thors Mjolnir! But they must be true of heart! If Loki has saved Thor and put Thor before Lokis needs/life/safety then he is worthy.

Very awesome! But there is one other person would can lift and probably even use his hammer, its Captain America/ Steve Rogers. So happy that Loki is worthy too.

the only reason loki went nuts is because thor had it all the throne the hammer the friends and odin loki just snapped and who could blame him like hanging on that staff before he fell into the abyss he already did that mentally if they would have givin him something in the movie than yeah he woulda been fine i mean just looking at this pic makes me think why could'nt he have had an equeal weapon to thors

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

DaffodilLion In reply to megamindroxanne [2014-04-24 08:15:48 +0000 UTC]

I agree with you there (Pardon me for butting in), but I also think that another reason he went slightly crazy is because he just wants to be loved. Think about it: He was abandoned as a baby by his own father and people, and grew up knowing that he would never really amount to anything in Odin's eyes. His brother was loved and popular, and he was just 'the adopted one'. So when Thor was banished, he saw a chance to be recognised as someone powerful, and to be loved by more than just Frigga. I think that's why he 'tried to save Odin's life' by killing Laufey. Then when Frigga was killed (Thor 2), he went even crazier, and decided to give getting the throne one last shot, and this time it worked (as far as we can tell).Β
That doesn't make much sense, but human minds are complicated, so i can only imagine that a deity's mind would be even more so.Β

(BTW this is a beautiful painting, I love it to shreds!)

NautilusL2 In reply to megamindroxanne [2014-04-19 22:54:53 +0000 UTC]

Well, he may not has a physical weapon like Thor has, but his mind (I think) is an increadible weapon and totally stronger than Thor's glorified wand (it shoots power out of it, helps him fly, sounds like a wand to me tbh.) It is a shame that the Asgard society and ours value physical strength over mental, but hey, it's changing slowly but surely! I am glad you like the picture and found it thought provoking!Β

If I may.

It was too late when Mjolnir has crashed with Tesseract, sending it flying from Loki's strong hands; ultimately freeing his mind from its grasp. He saw everything, he simply couldn't control his body when an old relic was connected with his consciousness he was a prisoner of his own body, locked in the depth of his being. Another blink and he was in control again- the ruins, destruction and his brother on the ground becoming painfully apparent. As Thor has thrown his weapon to disarm Loki, the ray from Tesseract has pierced his heart. Loki dropped to his knees, praying to anything that would listen for his brother's life. Thor was not breathing, his skin felt cold to the touch. Β Panicking, he lifted his brother onto his shoulders, carrying him away from the battle. Picking up Mjolnir was an afterthought. His king would not be buried without his weapon; he, Loki of Asgard would see to it even if it was the last thing he would do.

He can carry it if he is worthy of the power of Thor... He's rescuing Thor, being selfless and brave, so I'd say it makes sense that he's temporarily worthy. When Thor is better and Loki stops worrying about him, maybe the hammer will be too heavy again
That aside, it's a really powerful picture. Bravo!
