Description Kind of following in the footsteps of another DA Modeler - Styrene Robot (see his great interpretation of this kit here:  www.deviantart.com/art/Mars-At…)

This is Moebius' latest release - based on the Topps Issuance of Mars Attacks trading cards some 50 years ago (and not the movie staring Michael J. Fox and Sarah Jessica Parker of a few years ago).  I like these figure kits as your surface is a lot bigger - and gives you the chance to really detail if you like.  This offering from Moebius is an incredible work of art, but it's fit was not as good as other kits I've worked on from them.  The Martian's head/face is five pieces. and the fit of his body, and parts required a lot of puty, sanding, and patience.  I found the newspaper from another modeler's posting, so I copied and printed it out and glued to the base.  This build was a mix of airbrushing, hard brush, drybrushing.  The blood on the unfortunate victim and street is a red sharpie marker (the color looked really good!).  The lappost has a metal post, and is painted red brown, then model masters gun metal, and dry brush steel and rust.

These builds are a nice break from the big aircraft I usually model!

really great work, love the look of this kit and your paintwork on it. really sounds like a ton of work to get this model to the level you brought it too. pretty flipping aweosme.

Thanks!  I didn't collect the cards when I was a kid, but I remember the movie.  When this came out, I really wanted to pick it up!

i think somehow i wound up with a couple, but the movie rocked my world as a kid.
it looks like a very cool model, i am a bit jealous of. might pick one up someday but the work to get it to this level is daunting.

The only part I liked was when they wiped out Congress---but this is beautifully detailed work.

I like the fleshy lobe and white facial colouration.  I think everyone was in that movie!

Thanks.  I suspect it was a chance for a lot of people to work with Tim Burton (or maybe just easy money for a couple days of work!)
