This is an old art from an Amino post dating back to 2020. The subject had been the #AnimalAppreciation challenge, and I went with a Mountain Buck from Breath of the Wild. As you can see, however, I added in a Garo befriending the stag.

The idea is based on my headcanon. The Sheikah of the Terminian land of Noctua would ride on elk sized deer that had been domesticated as a traveling animal. The reason being they're more traversable in the thickly forested shadowlands compared to horses, as well as silent. The Sheikah would also utilize them for war, training them to gorge their enemies with their antlers, which had been selectively bred to be extremely sharp.

The Garo ARE Sheikah in my version of the Ikanian war, specifically unique Sheikah, who were enchanted with mysterious powers. So many Sheikah traditions translated into Garo culture, and this includes their preferences for deer over horses as traveling companions or war mounts.

Here, a little Garo finds a wild Mountain Buck. Because of his upbringing, he sees him as a sacred animal. But given that the stag has been injured (possibly due to a forest fire from a recent battle), he attempts to comfort him until help arrives.

That is, unless enemy forces find them first...
