Description Assalaamu alaikum [peace be to you],

I decided to start taking photos of the Qur'ans I have and post them for Muslims who want to use them for any beneficial use. but I have one condition. you need to ask permission before you use it. if you are a non-Muslim and want to use these photos, you also need to ask permission. if I see a good purpose, I will give permission.
using these photos or posting them somewhere else without permission is not allowed. please respect the wish of the owner of these photos. thanks...

these are the first pages of a Pakistani style Mus'haf, most popular in Sub-Continent, (India, Pakistan Bangladesh, South Africa).
the Mus'haf does not start with a preface or editorial. its content is divine, therefore it does not need a preface for every new edition. that is why the Mus'haf always starts with the same first chapter of the Qur'an, it is called Al-Faatihah (the Opening) it is 7 short verses (page to the right)
Al-Faatihah is the chapter the most read in the Qur'an. it is read in every prayer. Christians can consider it like the Lord's prayer of the Muslim.

the translation of this chapter goes like this:

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِي
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise be to Allah , Lord of the worlds
the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Master of Judgment Day
It is You we worship and You we ask for help
Guide us to the straight path
The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked Your anger or of those who are astray

Each chapter of the Qur'an is called Surah in Arabic.
there are 114 Surahs in the Qur'an. and each Surah (except one) starts with the expression In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. this expression is called Basmalah.

Why do Qur'an chapters start with Basmalah?

It was prophecised by the prophets of old that the God would send a prophet like Moses -peace be upon him- and he would put his words in this prophet's mouth so he would speak to the people all that the God would command. he would speak in the name of the God.
the prophet Mohammed -peace be upon him-, fulfilling this prophecy (among others) was ordained to begin everything with "Bismillaah" (translated as "in the name of the God") as the Qur'an documents its first verse (96:1):
اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ
Recite! in the name of your Lord who created

The Prophet Mohammed -peace be upon him- is also reported to have said: "Any action of importance not begun with basmalah is devoid of divine blessing and therefore incomplete."
The basmalah begins the chapter al-Faatihah and therefore begins the whole Qur'an.

the page to the left, in the picture above, is the 5 first verses of the second and longest Surah of the Qur'an. it is called Surat-al-baqarah (chapter of the cow)

not all pages of the Mus'haf have extensive frames and decorations like these two first pages. I will post some more pages in sha'Allah and you will be able to see.

to be continued, in sha'Allah...

I hope this was beneficial.

if I am right, it is from the God. if I am wrong, it is from myself.

Oh wow, those are some really pretty designs around the text. I think it's really cool how you've collected all sorts of different Mus'haf from around the world! They all look gorgeous.
