It's time to suspend my regular activities here to illustrate the danger we're all in with regards to the current coronavirus outbreak.
I'm not a virologist or epidemiologist but a cancer researcher. Even so, the numbers are very scary indeed.
In Asia or the Western Pacific (and that includes China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau) it appears that they have somehow managed to contain the spread of the virus, maybe with draconian measures.
This is not the case in the US or Europe, as the numbers illustrate.
For the US to ban all travel FROM (but not TO) Europe, and to top it all off, to exclude the UK from this travel ban is just not adequate.
It seems like Americans are free to travel to Europe and help to spread the virus, while Europeans are prohibited to spread the virus in the US. Meanwhile, British Citizens are still allowed to spread the virus?

Italy has healthcare for all....and they are in deep shit! The states would have fared much better with ample testing. Here where I am we have 3 test sites for a 100,000 person city. Makes a huge difference.

That's DT for you!Β This I am very afraid is going to cause enormous damage in the US mostly because there is no Universal Health care for all, like there is here.Β I feel so sad thatΒ the US has continually voted not to have systems like we do here in France and other country's.Β I think this means some people won't get tested or eventually have the income to pay for hospital care.Β It's all so very sad.Β At least I know if it comes to anyone in France having Coronavirus we know we will not have to pay!

I agree with you 100%. The situation is scary.
I'm still wondering why France or Germany or any other European country doesn't seem to be capable of reducing the daily increase in corona cases.
China and some other Asian countries seem to have it under control. It takes draconian measures to defeat this virus. And for reasons that are beyond me, Europe and the US are unwilling to do the right thing.
Just block anything for about two weeks, the incubation period, and then you can assess where you are.
