Lions rarely hunt elephants, but if so, they mostly attack very young or at the most juvenile elephants who have, for whatever reason, been separated from their herd.

Wow, my first impression was poachers as the lions don't look alarmed like hungry or starved.

Nature is brutal, no. Supermarket. Whe are looky until looks running out.

All I can say is what our safari guide told us, and that is that these lions killed the juvenile elephant earlier that night.
Not a pretty sight, maybe, but that's how these cats make their living.
