It's the balance between the positive and negative space in artwork.
Practically the amount of space the focal point takes up in comparison to the background.

So does its ratio-ness mean the clocks being positive space take up some of the scene and the woods/Alice are negative space take up other parts, making some ratio, instead of being all positive or all negative? :>

Or does it mean Alice is the positive space and the forest negative space, but there's a depth ratio, since some of the "background" forest is actually in front of her, and some behind?  : D
