before i joined DA or do flash, the best software that kept me sitted for hours was RPGmaker 2000, I made quite a few RPG but all of em ended halfway, given up.I thought i can never think of a good RPG plot, but one day, this excellant plot kick in, I work hard on the storyboard and then the final story came out, it will be a sucess.... I quickly draw out the characters, and from them, I did their custom sprites. and from there I started out that RPG, but till now, i cant think of a proper title for it....
but anyway, halfway through, my school semester begin and my old com begin to lag up, soon, i was forced to use another old com, and thus I have to leave all my data behind my old com. thus, the game progress was halted. Again..
but now, I have the newest RPGMaker software, ala RMXP, with that software, I decide to revive my game once more, but the problem is, RMXP Sprites are more detailed and making custom sprites are very hard......I think I will have a hard time doing em cause I am not that good in pixel art at all.... my custom characters are all base on exsisting RM2K sprite parts combined together.... but this time, the XP version graphics are of much higher quality, making ripping of parts more harder to do and edit...
anyway, this is raven, he is your main hero of the game. his main weapons are the crystals on his hands.....
well..maybe one day i will write out my story and post here....

I have rpgmaker 2003 and made custom stuff for a few characters but it really slows it down either that its my computer...............and they suck and this rules!!

I remember RPG maker...I remember RPG maker 2003 being much more difficult because of the battle animations. v.v But the character is very awesome. WHat to the crystals do exactly?

yah, RPG maker is a bit more complicated due to side battle animation, and making custom characters are tedious too...

Ayeh, though I was too lazy to make my own. I'd just gather nifty looking sprites from the many charsets and when someone pointed out I had Frieza and Broly in a non DBZ related game I'd slap 'em.

Same here, RPG maker was (and still is) Teh bomb. I barley use it, but if you wonted to make good sprites, that was the program. Very nice animation of your character!

no u cant, RMXP dosent allows u to upload movie, they remove the function.....have no idea why enterbrain removed that....

dun really like RM2K3's battle engine, quite confusing for me and requires extra sprites to do the animation

yeah, but I like the results once they r done, and it would be awesome to have them in your coolio style
U know u could jsut like, make them in flash with animable parts and take export them O.o
it gives cool results, and I hate only having lil' flashy stuff on ennemy sprites (the standard battle system gets on my nerves XD I'm someone who beleives alot in esthetics in RPGs lol)

I still have my RPGmaker for Playstation but i haven't used it in years. I was thinking of getting RPGMaker 2 for PS2 but I'm not sure if I'll get any RPGs done....

Oh spiffy! Same here! Before I joined DA, I enjoyed making rpg's... though I never got ot actually making it and it was with game maker... I cannot figure out how ot use it but I cannot find a tutorial either T_________T Tell me if there is one pwease >3 I really like how he looks n it should be great. XDD I posted a thing for my game on here and it's gonna take me forever to make other angles nyaha but I'm sure you have the patience to make characters ^________*

you should make some flash avi. cutscenes in yoru game...they turn out very good if you have the quality set nice...i have several for my dating sim. love the animation. cool looking sprite too...maybe enlarge him so that we can see the detail and the silimarity b/t the sprite and the flash guy

i dun really like using 2K3....the battle system requires more graphics. and sadly, theres no slot for movies though in XP....wonder why enterbrain removed it...

bunch of weirdos that enterbrain...the movie thing made the rpg's original...especially if you knew what you were doing...oh well, they prolly got complaints about it being a "useless" function cuz many people think so since they don't animate

in RPGmaker, U make ur own RPG game, Ala Finalfantasy 1 to 5 or pokemon style of RPG, the old school look from above controling a character...
this software requires no programming skills to do your RPG. you can make a simple RPG game without any programming skills, but if u are gonna do minigames and such, programming knowledge will be required. the software handles everything to making Skils, Item, monsters, Fighting animation,has its own libary of music and sound effects, and even making ur own games.
if u have the skill, u can even make a turn base strategy RPG, A game of Checkers or battleship, or even just a Story presentation in the form of RPG maker.
its a very good software.

currently, doing a googlesearch MAY give u some source, but not sure, just go google and type RMXP or maybe RM2K if u want the 2000 version, XP is just a soup up version of 2000, Without a Help file, 2K has. maybe try 2K first before jumping to XP.
but anyway, if u still cant find me, add me in ur msn contacts and ask me for it, i have the installation file.
