What he asked was his OC, Lieutenant Helga Nadler, a panzergrenadier in the German Bundeswehr and some of her fellow squad mates been pinned down under heavy fire in a middle eastern setting.

The sketching process started on December 3, been doodling Helga and some regular BW equipment for familiarization on scrap paper. Unlike my regular works, I've been drawing each character individually on a single sheet of paper before scanning, inking and coloring them in Photoshop CS5 and Paint Tool SAI, with the help of my trusty Wacom Intuos4.
The weapons you can see are a regular G36 with its integral carrying handle, a regular MG3 equipped with a 50 rounds drum magazine and finally, Lt. Nadler's customized G36A2 fitted with a Eotech sight, AN/PEQ and a AG36 40mm grenade launcher (First time drawing a tacticool looking G36 ). Most gear is standard to the Bundeswehr, such as their Mehler ST ballistic vests and the Gefechtshelm helmet.
Background wise, Panzer actually requested a simple wall riddled with bullet holes, but for some reason, I just went on and couldn't resist adding more elements as I sketched the blue ink draft with my tablet. This includes the unit patches too, he said that it won't matter if we don't see them.
The flecktarn pattern (Both wunsterntarn and the regular woodland) were done through a long and tiresome method known as...stinging a graphic tablet with its stylus, gotta keep that 'Handpainted camouflage" look haha , had to tweak the colors a couple of times since most of the references I got off the internet had different exposures. But the most important lesson are the brush settings of SAI, the "spread" function was used to give the nice fluffy look you can see how those clouds, looking forward to use this technique more often.

Anyways, this took almost two weeks to complete, longest project I've been working on so far.
