Description Sunderland roundhouse, and therein, a quartet of worn out Worsdell engines sitting about between duties. Time is running out for the long lived class of locomotive, and in the final months comes an air of unease around the depots. Other sheds have closed, engines scrapped, and yet for now the old guard outlives their more modern counterparts. Soon their time will come however, and they will disappear along with their depot.

All save for one, that is.

Twas a sad time for BR's steam locomotives in the 1960s.  I wish I could live in the UK and see steam engines like these, or any steam engine in Britain, for that matter.

Ya know what's to blame for the steam decline? Economics, bankruptcy and dieselization.

Must be sometime between 1962 and 67, and yes the NER P3's/J27's where some of Darlington's finest engines.
