Description Before there was Atlas' Paladins, there were the Mantle's Dreadnoughts, massive war-machines developed decades prior to the Great War. Forged from the great furnaces of Mantle's factories and armed with the most deadliest armament, the Dreadnought was the most powerful piece of machinery that have ever walked on Remnant at its time. To the eyes of ciivilians, it is mostly seen as another mechanize suit or an automatic robot, but in truth however, it is a combination of both. It is not piloted by ordinary mech pilot, but honored Mantlian soldier whose body has been ravaged by battle, but has a strong will to live has kept him away from death for now. Still wanting to fight, one will be given the honor to pilot the Dreadnought so that he or she may continue serving the Royal Family and the kingdom. However, once inside, pilots cannot leave the cockpit once their bodies and minds are connected to the machine and are destined for life of endless battle until destroyed.

The Dreadnought isn't the same as any other mechs Mantle created. As a cybernetic body, the pilot can move it as if it were his own and despite its hulking appearance, it was surprisingly agile and can run up to 30km/h on land. A special life support system was fitted, keeping the pilot in stable condition both mind and body, however one major side effect (which Mantle's scientist did not expected) slows down the pilot's aging process three times that of a normal human or faunus.

In battle, the Dreadnought was a force to be reckoned with by its enemies. It carries both powerful guns and lethal close-quarters weapons of choices that are enough to gun down and cut through a swarm of Grimm, even a Goliath, as if they were cardboard. The outer armor can withstand all but the most powerful of enemy firepower, even the sharpest and strongest swords forged by the best blacksmiths can barely made a scratch. Although powerful at its own right, it still have its fare share of weaknesses. One such weakness is that the pilot, despite being connected, cannot project Aura onto the Dreadnought due to the crippled state of his body. If he can, the walking sarcophagus would be near indestructible.

The history of the Dreadnought was a proud and tragic one. Over two hundred units of Drednoughts have been taken into action in many of Mantle's wars and battles such as the famous Scourge of the North war until their decline of what is known today as the Great War. Shorty after the War, the time of the Dreadnought came to an end when Vytal Treaty has brought in a new age of peace and prosperity. As weapons bred for war, the remaining forty five Dreadnoughts were unable to adapt to this new era of peace. Many refused to bow down to the newly established Atlas and exiled themselves into the uncivilized realms of Remnant by starting their own war against the never ending Creatures of Grimm.

Their existence have almost been forgotten, until one day, when an entire village was saved from a pack of Grimm by an unknown hulking mech of unknown. It left what appears to be an old Mantle auto-diary that dates back before the Great War. The contents contains what appears to be the last words of the mysterious mech.

"I am the shield of the people, I am the sword of my Mantle's glory, I am the loyal servant of the Royal Family, I am Brother Gaulderson of the Dreadnought. For years I have lived in exile, away from your cruel peaceful ideologies that has rejected my very existence and you replaced me with warriors who do not know the true grim realities of battle. Now, I am the last of the Dreadnoughts and our story will finally fade away once I am destroyed in my next battle, my last battle, against the White Lady. Be warned, she is evil incarnate that will destroy us all and I intend to destroy her first.

She will fear me, for I am her death."

=======

Question: Do you think a Huntsman (or Huntress) can take down this walking sarcophagus?

grimm a no blood!

 When a Grimm dies, their corporeal form evaporates, preventing detailed anatomical or biological studies. This also means that Huntsmen that kill for sport cannot stuff and mount Grimm bodies as trophies, making replicas instead.

This kind of reminds me of a fanfiction I read about a Contemptor pattern dreadnought from the Iron hands chapter getting transported to the RWBY universe.
