I really like the softness of the shading of the woman and the texture of the tile to give this nice terracotta like (IMO) look.
You can still have soft shading without being too soft. Try blending where the light and shadow meets. It makes the transition to light and dark blend more smoothly and adds more dimension.

There's as much hard brush as soft brush in this one. There is even texture in the skin. Sadly the texture doesn't come out too well at this size. It was colored at 11x17 at 600 dpi, so it was easy to get a soft transition in the skin. Personally, too much hard lines on a woman makes her more masculine.
The water could have been done better, though.

Wish I had a clue on how to color water like this. Love the textures and the metal is just popping out - great work!

What I did--use the Clouds filter in Photoshop. Then use the Ripple filter set to Large and 999, then use the Ripple filter again set to Medium and 999.
I enlarged and warped it (using the transform tools) so that it fit better. I then used the paint brush and attemted to fix parts that didn't go along with the pencils. This piece is hit or miss, but at least I what I need to do next time.

Yeah, I usually avoid them as well. But sometimes they can come in handy.

Belinda eh... so what's her story?

She's the antagonist of Sela. Each issue(s) of the series deals with a situation that mirrors a fairy tale. Sela usually tells a specific tale to a person to hopefully help him/her make the right decision, whereas Belinda tells the story to seal that person's fate.

You know, I don't remember... LOL I had stopped reading the series shortly after the Pinocchio story.

Still waiting to hear, but I do know they've got the packet and that they are now looking. I'll make sure you'll be one of the first to find out.
