Dark Masters are such interesting characters from Digimon. In my stories, they are the slaveholders (leaders who hold slaves) of Insectuses, the anthropomorphically mutated insect-like aliens from Star Defender game franchise, which they use to collect souls of other inhabitants of universe. More souls they have, more frequently Dark Masters can teleport Insectuses to any reach of the universe without range limits. After teleportation is complete, Insectuses transform into any beautiful female mystical creature, such as Nymph, Mermaid, Sylph or Fairy. In those four form, Insectuses are innocent looking and harmless, but those exteriors contain monsters and mutants that are cruel and extremely heartless. In Nymph, Mermaid, Sylph and Fairy forms, Insectuses can with a single glance charm any person or beast, drawing the victims closer to horrific feast. Through the process that is vile and mean, Insectuses in their exterior form suck victims marrow clean. From the cocoon, a new creature is born, and Insectus shows its true form. A insect-like mutant of rage that kills with glee, the new-born Insectus starts its lifelong killing spree.

I forgot to mention that the Dark Masters are also the resurrected creations of Sedessa from Delgo (who is one of the Twelve Masters of Destruction who works for Dictator Xoxx from Jets'n'Guns). Here is my drawing of them:

Actually, they don't combine to create Apocalymon. Apocalymon was actually the one who created them.

Apocalymon was actually mentioned to be the Digimon to End the Digiworld, and it was said that he was formed from the Souls of most of the Evil Digimon they had killed in the past (with the exception of the ones who were still alive when he was forming, such as Devimon and Myotismon), and the Souls of countless other Despaired Digimon. So he's literally a mountain-sized embodiment of Evil, Despair, and Darkness.

Good point. I must have been thinking about the Dawn and Dusk game when I wrote that.

Yeah, it's a neat reference to it. Here's the explanation on how they are supposed to be The Four Horsemen, using quotes from the Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse passage from The Book of Relevations.

Famine: Puppetmon
-The quote on the Horseman of Famine said this. The Black Horseman (Famine) was given power and control of people’s food. He was given scales, and he made a proclamation about the amounts people would get.
Puppetmon is like this in that he has the ability to physically control other's actions. He proclaims the actions he wants, and the digimon are forced to fulfill the action, whether they want to or not. This proclamation is similar to that of the Horseman of Famine, who proclaims the amount of food that each person would receive, no matter what they wanted instead.

Pestilence: MetalSeadramon
-This was the quote on the Horseman of Pestilence. The White Horseman (Pestilence) was given authority (crown) and a bow (to conquer).
MetalSeadramon's relation to this is a bit more Vague, but it's sort of like this. Like what Pestilence did, MetalSeadramon came quickly and conquered the sea of the DigiWorld, and he ruled the sea completely.

War: Machinedramon
-First of all, it's easily seen this at first, since Machinedramon is literally a walking War Machine armed with many WMD's to launch at his foes.
Second of all, this was the quote on the Horseman of War. The Red Horseman (War) was given the authority to take peace from the Earth. In taking this peace, people would begin to turn and slay one another.
Thus the Horseman is an embodiment of Warfare that plagues the Earth with turmoil and chaos up until the end of the world. This same instance occurs with Machindramon who comes and builds an army of Robotic Digimon. He creates chaos, and innocent digimon are forced to fight against each other in order to survive

Death: Piedmon
-The Quote on the Horseman of Death was this. The Pale Horseman is the final horseman to come. He is the horseman of Death.
Piedmon relates to this in these ways. He was the Last Boss, the last Dark Master to be faced against, the strongest of the four, and killed the most Digimon. Pretty straight-forward there.

Last, but not least, they all relate to the Four Horsemen in this way. They literally had Digiworld in Tatters with the Digi-Apocalpyse nigh, and they were servants of the Apocalypse Digimon, Apocalymon.
Also, they first appeared all at once, and then in the following episodes when they first appear, each Dark Master comes to fight individually, just as the Horsemen in Revelation are introduced together as the four living creatures but come to Earth to fight separately.

Cool. I love how much effort is put into thinking up Digimon. It would be so easy to be like "Here's a dragon." instead of "Here's a dragon based off of this legend which is tied into these religions and here's how we're going to reference it." Just that little extra makes it worth watching after childhood.

Very true. It's one of the reasons why I find Digimon to be better than Pokemon. Pokemon doesn't deal with these sorts of big themes, or has monsters with that kind of thought put into them. Digimon however, does.

Try looking up some Pokemon on Bulbapedia. At the bottom it tells you what they're based off of. Some of them are really well thought out.

This group of digimon are awesome so much.
I just don't like how authors of Digimon Xros wars/Fusion presented Machinedramon and Puppetmon.

It was so much better when they only digivolved up a line instead of having all those weird types of digivolution. I really hated when the human turned into digimon. That was just dumb.

I've seen pretty much all of season 1, that was great - and seen some of season two, which I thought was a great follow up that included the original cast. Season 3...I saw a couple of episodes but didn't pursue it any further... I didn't know the humans could become digimon... O_o

I think it's either season four or five. It's kind of a let down but its still a pretty good show once you get past the disappointment.

Isn't Apocalymon awesome? I got the uncut Digimon episodes in Duel Audio just so I could listen to his before fight rant.

The Japanese version caused a bunch of kids to get really depressed, so that might be why they made him funny in the English.

I like funny bad guys though.
