Well, I'd been wandering through your gallery looking for things to favorite before I started watching you, because that's the kind of person I am, and here I find the perfect place to start. And, since you've requested critiques and I realized after writing this that it is one... I'm gonna make it one.
The Lagia is beautifully ugly, and you can feel both a livid and ancient power in him, much like many hunters do during their fights against the lightning leviathan. I stopped playing Tri ages ago after I finished my ultimate custom armor set, but I can still remember and feel that wonderful rush that comes from staring down the Lagiacrus with a longsword in hand, knowing that my only hope to survive any assault was careful timing and precise strikes.
The background is simple, easy, but powerful. It reminds me pretty thoroughly of TTGL, which is the style I imagine you were going for, no? Something close, anyways. Either way, inspired by it or not, the simplicity of the background is often what MH is about. You're so focused on the fight that it might as well not be there most of the time, but you know it is and so things start to fade and fishbowl around your focused target. It really brings the piece together, in my mind.
Then, of course, there's the hunter. I won't bother talking about the 'effectiveness' of using Barioth armor and... oh dear it has been a long time, the name and materials escape me but the Thunder LS in your hunter's hands. Effectiveness is mostly in a hunter's skill, as any veteran knows, and so I think I'd rather comment on how it's working for the image.
It's sort of amazing, really, because at first you don't quite notice the hunter. He gets lost in the electric spines, in their deadly shine, and when you finally pick him out there's a few things that come to mind. First off, for those who don't understand Monster Hunter, you've got the white knight vs. dragon archetype, and for those same people the sword is just a beautiful addition to the regal knight. The fur on the armor further drives the dichotomy between hunter and hunted, as mammal rages against reptile in a fight to the bitter end. It's poetic, and that poetry is enhanced by the nature of the armor. Barioths are swift predators of the frozen north, of mountains and caverns that chill a hunter's soul, while the Lagia is a violent maelstrom that strikes along the warm, pleasant coasts where the simpler folks live. To have them fight one another, even if one is only their in skin, is a testament to the power of the scene, and really made my day when I saw it.
That all being said, I have one small issue that really isn't that big of one, but it's something. The angle of the ground in relation to your hunter means that, well... they're in a position close to a backwards slant (Think the '/' symbol) relative to the ground (Which is, of course, like '_'). This wouldn't be so much of a problem, as LS users are known for leaping backwards with the Fade Slash technique, but his sword is very obviously positioned for a new strike, rather than following through from the one that would have led him to his current stance.
Again, not a major thing, but something.
Overall, this rather simple and brutal image is captivating in all the ways that the games have ever been for me. Thank you for posting it, and I wholeheartedly look forward to more of your work.

The shading is nice, the scales and rippled skin give it that in depth feeling that makes a nice 3 dimentional figure of both the hunter and the monster,plus the water shimmering off the arms plus the electricity pulsing off the shell shockers, thats what caught my eye, and what truly drew me into getting a closer look, the only error that I find in this picture, and its not even an error its just an opinion, is the background, its nice but much more could have been done, another one which is a Monster Hunter, again opinion, is that the hunter is using armor thats weak to thunder plus using a thunder based weapon (just ignore this complaint) but honestly, fantastic work and I hope you continue to improve further than what you've created.

I was doing the mission "Troubled Waters". I chopped Lagiacrus's tail off. As I was carving his tail, i said "Fuck you Lagiacrus!". He shot an energy ball at me and hit me when i told him to fuck off

Yeah I've had my share of bs mission fails by this bastard myself. It felt good taking him down for the first time, but that feeling soon left after I realized I had to keep fighting him to make better stuff.
