I think all of the BG patterns and the rainbow on the left, in general, were better off gone.
A more simplistic background, like the grey you used, would do wonders to enhance the great job you did with Miku.
If you'd prefer not to have it plain with just the grey behind, you could use a slight gradient with/or a simple texture.
I also went to check the original art and your choice to change the palette was really good for this wallpaper.
I like how she turned out so colourful, and yet not blindingly shiny.

Oh, forgot to add the reason why it's cramped: it confuses a person's focus when looking at the picture. It nulls the details and colours of the character, so when we see it, we don't really know where to look at since there's too much information - you have text on the right, then objects everywhere.
