However, most of the comments at this point are just frustrating. I could disable comments, but I don't believe in censoring free speech. Instead, please read the following list of frequently used comments to save us both some time:

That is extremely true and I think a lot of people forget it. There are bad and good people on both sides. It's not "religion" that makes you pure, it's the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

I think you not only missed the point, but you trampled over it on your way out the door. The "saving grace of Jesus Christ" is irrelevant to whether or not a person is "pure", moral, or a mass murderer. I can tell you right now, an atheist can be just as "pure" as the purest of Christians. Unless, of course, you define "purity" in terms of the acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, in which case your definition of "purity" is arbitrary and useless.

I am merely trying to point out that Chrisians, or any other religion, really, don't claim that its "religion" that makes a person pure. There is a very big difference between "religion" and what a specific religion believes makes a person pure. I happen to be a Christian, so I used Jesus Christ as an example.

Of course being a Christian doesn't make you pure. I'm a Christian but that doesn't mean I'm any better than you. We all sin. None of us are perfect. And being an Atheist wouldn't make you any more evil than any one of us. Just putting that out there. No one should think they're better than anyone else.

I am atheist, but my family doesn't know. I never tell them, because when they are talking about atheism, I hear them say how they are a bad influence. It's just depressing.

Agreed! I'm not atheist personally but it bugs me when religious people think everything is just fine and dandy because they have a religion. I'm sorry but that's false: Nobody is absolutely 'pure' there are religious people who have done horrible things to in life not just atheists.

Also on that note - being religious does not make me stupid, or smart, for that matter, nor does being an atheist make you more or less intelligent; peoples' intelligence exists regardless of their religious beliefs. The only group I can honestly say I've had unanimously positive times with have been agnostics; a lot of religious people are jerks to each other. 
I don't think religion should be a leading force in people's abilities to get along. I like it when people believe the same things as me because it's a shared interest, but I don't consider it important in the scheme of things when it comes to getting along with people.
