wow, brilliant, i did a drawing of this girl on SS, inspired by Schlinders list, i thought it was amazing in the film when it was the first bit of colour you saw.

I remember it; I gave you a favourite for that animation!
Schindler's List is a great film on many different levels. Like you, I also found the symbolic use of colour very effective. I drew this picture with very basic tools and had to do it in one sitting, so I was not able to do it justice. It is one of my favourite images and hopefully one day I will have the opportunity to paint it in oils....

This is amazing, this is the sort of art I would stop if I saw it in a shop window and buy instantly it also kind of reminds me of a piece by banksy (The girl letting go of the red heart balloon) [link]
I think thats a link to view the piece that banksy did I mean really this is INCREDIBLE

Wow, thank you so much rubberduck!!! Yep, I know the balloon girl by Banksy, it's a great image! I can see how it reminds you of that. While no one knows the true message behind Banksy's image (other than Banksy), my interpretation of it is a lot more positive than the message of 'The Girl in Red'. When I think of the balloon girl (isolated from the accompanying text "There is always hope"), I think of reluctantly letting go of something cherished, in order to move forward and develop/grow. My drawing comes from the film 'Schindler's List'; a film about the holocaust. I take no credit for the colour choice of my drawing, as this is how the girl is depicted in the film. I guess the meaning behind my drawing is more about the unnecessary destruction of something truly innocent and defenceless.
Sorry for the long reply, sometimes I just talk too much .
Thanks again Rubberduck, I really appreciate your comment

Well you were of course, you were one of the SS celebs and yet you didn't let that all get to your head (none of you did) and you always were such an active member and commented on lots of peoples art, even me with 30 watchers ha ha

Hehe! I just wish that I could be as active here on dA! For some reason I always managed to comment on everyone's art on SS, but here I just can't keep up!!

I get tired just reading all the stuff you have to do! Another point is animations/deviations no longer 'pend' whereas they did on sketch star therefore all artists can easily instantly publish anything and everything! I was not given any of the adult features on SS which was not right as after looking deeper in to the subject and creating a seperate account I discovered I could comment with my official birthdate when making the new account and because I joined SS under the limit it just took lots of those things like commenting away. I did try to contact them but surprise surprise I was met with a robot, which always seems to irritate me ha ha

Hahaha! Thanks for reminding me!

You know, I think you're spot on with your 'pending' point I didn't think of that!

Tell me about it!! I used to get quite irritated by their automated replies too! How annoying that you had to create a whole new account!!

tea-cup-duck In reply to Neko-Bear [2013-08-24 11:34:32 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha no problem,I tried not to but hey you didn't know why you didn't have time to comment so I guessΒ  you know now he he yeah I hated having to wait for things to pend when I know I never actually posted anything that could be considered rude, violent or inappropriate etc etc but hey ho that's the way things go I did join in the very end of Sketch star's time by which point I think the layout had become a bit more 'tired' as it were! Yeah although it didn't take long I guess it was just a website error, still I guess that accounts disappeared now ha ha my only wonder is where did Daawesomegirl go? I have been trying hard to contact her via miniclip but without ss there it's impossible to find and talk with her! It's a shame as its become very vague but I seem to remember having some very nice conversations with her, still there are many reasons why certain people weren't allowed to join DA {mainly age related} so I suppose I just have to watch and wait ha ha still I try not to dwell on things like this to much but I have made a promise to myself I won't forget her,her last drawing was a portrait of me β™₯ the scariest thing is now I have been on DA longer than I have been on Sketch star! I joined SS and started drawing 'properly' near the ends of December I think it was the 21st and obviously I left April 16 that comes to just under 5 months whereas I have been on DA since March 23rd and am still here today {August 24th} which is just over 5 months! I really need to stop over thinking this ha ha

Aw, it sure is sad how many contacts were lost with the demise of SS. Yes, it is practically impossible to communicate with someone using Miniclip w/o SS, not much you can say with a few pre-selected sentences...looking good Haha! It's great that so many of us were able to migrate to dA, but there are just so many of us still missing Hopefully daAwesomegirl joins us one day, you never know!Β It's good that you were able to download the portrait that she made, that way you'll never forget about her!Β Yeah, it is strange, I've been here longer too. I was a member of SS for a little over 6mnths and I'm approaching my 9mnth anniversary here at dA, but I'm determined to never forget my roots!!

The girl in the red coat is probably one of my most favourite images, and I have always wanted to draw her. This is a panel in an online collaborative comic book. I drew it using the site's drawing tool, which is similar to those on SS, but even more basic. So it's not the best drawing, but it conveyed my message well enough.
