Yeah long story but I'll keep it simple:

Before Luna was banished, I was born but unfortunately not healthy enough to handle the world so they sent me to the Island of Magic for health processing so I could handle the air, that's when I became a mystic pony and after that, 1 year later, she was banished, I was in there for 950 years and didn't age a bit, yeah it takes a long time to do this, very long, after that, I was sent home and Celestia decided to take care of me, that's when I called her mother after those years of careness from her, I didn't know my Luna was my real mother till my curse was unleashed, so yeah she's my Guardian but I still call her mom.

There's your answer.

Well during that time of Nightmare Moon's attack, the shadows have infected me since me and her are connected during process and it is made as a curse, at first it was incontrollable because I was young and when I was transferred down south to live with the Zebras, I was taught by a sensei there and now I can control it, yeah the curse name is Nightmare Armor, the son of Nightmare Moon, if everytime my anger overloads or get close to near death, he comes in and finishes the job but he's not evil nor he's good, his weakness is light which Celestia mostly does to defeat him and turns him back to me. So yeah that's the curse, here's the pic of it (out dated coz I can't be stuffed doing him yet):
