Description
I once walked under the rusty sky of October
when a raven above my head flew over.
A bad omen perhaps? Superstitious ones would shake
to not believe that was a sign was my own grave mistake.
The sun fell into slumber, the sky was black as pitch
and the feeling of the warm afternoon took a switch
from feeling calm and peaceful to being full of freight
when the transition was made from day to sudden night.
A shiver ran down my spine without warning
and I whispered a prayer to live untill morning.
The source of the ominous feeling was unknown to me
and I desperately wanted to arrive home safely.
I heard a clap of thunder in the cloudless sky
and in my soul i felt that tonight I would die.
I heard crisp leaves crunch under enemy feet
and turned to see what I would meet.
In terror I realized it was no normal a force,
and the thought of my end changed fear to remorse,
so I wept then and there at the beast that stood before me
in the shadow of the creature that came without warning.
