"Black Rock Shooter" was created by someone known as huke as an original character based on Vocaloid character Hatsune Miku. Someone called Ryo was apparently so impressed by the character design that they decided to write the song "Black Rock Shooter" and make a music video featuring the Black Rock Shooter character and sung by Miku. This video and the character herself then became mysteriously popular across the interwebs to the point where it was decided to make an anime about her. The "pilot" edition of this anime came out September 30, and apparently consists of a 90-second preview video of the actual anime scheduled for next Spring.
