I'm just going to pint out that all the friend zone is, is a way for men to know their boundaries. I honestly don't know why women get offended by the thought of the friend zone. I mean I guess I understand if the guy becomes friends with a girl and leaves when he knows they can't have a relationship. That is a dick move but simply calling it what it is isn't that bad though. The illustration's primary purpose is most likely to exaggerate.
Exaggerate meaning to add more expression. The character seems sassy, but even sassier with such an ego and perspective on things. Almost like a vixen. That is most likely all there is to it. Nothing really logically correct or anything of that sort.
