Description I wanted to do my own version of the coat of arms of Hogwarts, sticking closer to the book and to heraldic rules.
The animals are based on existing ones, for example, Hufflepuff's badger is based on the bear of Berne. I really like how the Gryffindor lion turned out, as well as the Ravenclaw eagle. Slytherin's snake caused me the most trouble but I guess I can live with it now

Did you know that the school's moto is translated as:
"Never tickle a sleeping dragon"?

Yes, I did
Translated that myself once

This looks far more like a proper coat of arms than the film version, no matter how much they try to make it cool by using old inky lines to draw it. I think Slytherin's snake came out well - the addition of scale might have emphasised the curved shape, but at the expense of the simplicity which makes this piece effective. Faved

Thanks a lot
I also never liked the film version, especially that they used the wrong colors for Ravenclaw...

I always thought it was weird that the motto had the word "Draco" in it. You know, because it's also the name of Draco Malfoy. I know what the motto means,it's just weird.

Yeah, it's kinda weird, you're right.

Apparently I'm a Hufflepuff, according to a decent online quiz. I hear that's the house for un-special people. Do you think that's true?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nelde In reply to HighinHeaven [2011-04-29 01:12:58 +0000 UTC]

According to a quiz I'm mostly Ravenclaw. After that I'm Slytherin, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff in that order.
Hehe, I don't know whether Hufflepuff's for the un-special ones. They certainly aren't known for exceptional bravery or knowledge, but rather for loyalty and friendship.

I was in The Goblet of Fire movie. The Mad-Eye Moody impostor (I forget who the impostor was) who said something like "How is it that the witless wonder Neville could have found the gill weeds?" lol my memory is failing me. It was when he was revealing that he was behind Harry's illegal participation in the tournament

HighinHeaven In reply to Nelde [2011-04-29 01:42:30 +0000 UTC]

I remember a lot of stuff...

Unfortunately, most of that stuff isn't school related...

My first memory is when my older brother closed his finger in the van door.

What's your earliest memory?

Not to be random, but I'm majoring in early childhood education and I love hearing about people's childhoods

My earliest memory? No idea... I have some memories of my early childhood, but I don't know in what order they happened ^^
I remember playing in the dirt in my grandmother's garden. And I remember wearing the cherries from her tree like earrings.
