This is so amazing. I don't know where to start. I guess the watercolor effect on the background which looks so wonderfully like blood splatters. It''s brilliant how they even appear on the Sunflower, but without being too dramatically "blood and gore."
Speaking of the sunflower, the line art is lovely and brilliant. I'm completely thrilled by the black center and the scraffito effect that you used to render the seeds. As for the leaves, again, I get the understated principle. Instead of a storm of petals just the two are falling, and it's brilliant. Also, they help add to the movement that the picture has from Russia's hair and ribbon. So much action while he's standing still. I love how you made the clasp of his uniform echo the typical 'Bicycle' king of spades with the arrow directiony-ness. The picture has a marvelous zigzag feel to it.
Russia is also a little more bishi than I would have expected for the King of Spades, but I do love how peaceful his face is. Again, you work so well with the understatement. The spades as a suit has such lovely dark connotations that can be pulled from Russia's character, but with your approach the viewer need the intimate knowledge of Russia to see the connection. Which is such a lovely subtlety. Love it.

Wow, thank you so much for the feedback! Just... really. Thank you! : )
I can tell you, that I chose Russia to be the King of Spades for a reason. Because there is a work by a famous Russian poet/author A. Pushkin called "The Queen of Spades", I decided to kind of twist the concept and link it to Russia. Out of all Hetalia characters, Russia is the one I know the best, so to say. He has so many sides, and I cannot help but see him as Russia-the-country I know, or think that I know... it's a long story, really...
I think what you saw in this picture something I didn't mean to show but showed anyway - my relationship, my feelings towards Russia as a country... *sad smile*

I know that in Russian folk ledgend the Queen of spades is seen as a very complicated character, who will both attack someone, and help them out of difficulties. A real wild card in fortune telling ^^.
Art can be really revealing without necessarily being obvious about it. ^^
