funny enough I was a huge Thomas the Tank Engine Β fan as a kid. that was the Ringo Starr/George Carlin era. Every so often I'll look up those old eps on youtube.

wow you're probably the first person I've seen who didn't like Ringo. Though i will say, the one who owned it was Michael AngelisΒ
my favorite 3 in no particular order where Ringo, Angelis, and Carlin

Angelis was great, and he joined the show just as it was entering its post-Tugs phase, with much better camera work, better models, better music etc. The earlier Ringo seasons are fun to watch but there's a "cheapness" to them that makes them both charming and unintentionally funny (a lot of characters getting their faces mixed up is a recurring goof that makes me laugh).
I don't really hate Ringo's narration; I just don't think he breathed as much "life" into the stories as Carlin did.
