Description December has been pretty busy for plenty of good and a few not-so-good reasons, but I still felt the need to upload this:

So, a few days ago, I watched the third "Digimon Adventure tri" installment with some friends, and while I continue to love the movies as the nostalgia fest they are, I am starting to get seriously annoyed with the Chosen 8's obliviousness and outright negligence towards to the incredibly obvious kidnapping of the four middle-school kids who, by all accounts, should be considered their B-Team by now. I do have some theories regarding as to how this incredibly contrived writing decision came about, but let's not get into that now.

Now, I know that there is plenty of fanart of the 02 Kids in tri's style already and usually said fanart puts them into the uniforms of whatever middle school they're likely to be attending right now, however, I am quite sure that when they were seen in the opening in "Reunion", their outlines looked very similar to the clothes they have always been wearing on their ventures into the Digital World, meaning that their D3s probably retained their fashion-altering properties and the four of them still get a self-image-based make-over whenever they enter the Digital World, even today. So based on this, I tried to redesign their old outfits just enough to represent them maturing.

Daisuke/Davis retains his "too cool for school" look and gaudy colors, because I think he's the kind of guy who'll always stay quite childish at heart, especially given what he was like in the 02 epilogue. His jacket stays the same, but he now wears a more "slacker"-y shirt and his gloves got an update. I also made his hair shorter, in anticipation of his eventual total haircut in the epilogue.

Ken gets some very subdued colors, but still with some level of individuality to the colors, to show that his emotional state probably has improved by now (Albeit that might have changed again already, if the Imperialdramon fought in Determination was really an infected Veemon and Wormmon... oh boy.) I generally tried to make him look a bit less "stiff", but also gentle and soft.

Iori/Cody stays mostly the same, thanks to his coat clearly remaining largely unchanged in the silhouette we saw in "Reunion". I just added some details that weren't there before and gave him his bamboo sword from Kendo, since I think he might feel compelled to be more active in helping Armadillomon out in combat after all that's happened. Just very eager to be of help, you know? Of course, I also tried to make him somewhat taller (he stays a shorty tho) and make his hair look less like it was cut using a lawnmower.

Miyako/Yolei gave me some trouble, since her original color-scheme is pretty atrocious (it always was) and would probably clash horribly with pretty much anything in tri, but I eventually decided she's probably ditched the weird helmet by now and also toned down the color of her vest a bit, as to make it a little easier on the eye. I gave her different glasses and generally changed some details around...yeah.

I case you wonder why Davis is standing so far off from everyone else, it's just because I kinda ran out of space on the sheet of paper I was using after I finished drawing him and Ken. That's also why Yolei's pose is so strange and she seems to float mid-air, ahaha.

Additionally, seeing how their clothes are generated by the Digital World itself, I decided to reflect its "current state" on them by putting a triangle (the symbol of tri) on each of their outfits. Sadly, you won't find Yolei's; it's on her bag, so her arm is covering it.

Anyone who wants to use these redesigns in their own fanart or such is free to do so; just give me a tiny bit of credit and I'm 100% happy!
