The Female Shepard I made for Mass Effect was based off of my character from Fate Saga, Rori Orvik . As a character exercise, I try to base her fighting style and decisions as closely to how Fate Saga's incarnation would be in this situation as possible.

Anyway, Fate Saga's Rori is a very aggressive, on-top-of-you type of fighter, and usually fights with her hands. For Mass Effect, I made her a Vanguard and though she does use Rifles, she also gratuitiously uses her Charge ability to jump into the fray and wallop everything in sight.

Although I liked Thane's mission, I was pretty bad at it. I kept losing sight of the target and ended up redoing the mission a good 4-5 times before I finally succeeding. In Fate Saga, she's a were-wolf and thus has a killer sense of smell/tracking abilities - but if she wasn't a were-wolf and was brought up in a futuristic setting like this, I don't think stealth tracking would be her forte.

And Thane's an assassin. Whose job often consists of him tracking his target until they're in a vulnerable position.

What the heck, Thane? What the heck? You should have had Rori run in swinging and scare the target away. She's good at that.
