Stained glass... ooh, I love the mood of all these pieces. How Armand -almost- fits in with the cherry wood and the rose glass with his auburn hair and wine-coloured shirt; it really helps illuminate his skin, how 'otherwordly' he is.

Thanks ... the novel is so visual with Rice's details about clothing, surroundings, etc. that to attempt an actual visual depiction you've got to try to at least match some of all that.

I like the overall thing, but in the three pages there's one problem: The poses look rather stiff. I'm not saying I can do better, but I think you should add a little effect to the clothes. If you examine it closely, especially at the shoulders, I think, the clothes seem to be floating around the character a little, not attached to him as gravity would make them in real.
I know it's annoying to get comments like these on a piece of work you're proud of, but I just said what's on my mind.
Maybe I shouldn't have. Now I'm guily already..

Critical comments are always welcome as long as they are offered in a helpful light ... and yours are. Otherwise, I wouldn't post these works in a forum such as this. Now for my excuses (lol) ... As I state under Artist's Comments, this series is an experiment in narrative format and I really didnβt intend for each panel to be a stand-alone finished piece. While I donβt think they belong in my Scraps section, admittedly and probably obviously they have not been developed to full potential. I did spend quite a bit of time on post-working the clothing and other aspects of the individual panels (especially since the jacket was not originally intended for the figure mesh I used for Armand), but there came a point where it became much too time consuming for what I actually set out trying to accomplish with these β basically, seeing how these images would work in a graphic novel format. So layout, the choice of specific text from the novel to use (as well as the font), flow of the story, the overall design and probably most importantly, capturing the atmosphere of the Rice novel were the key issues I was trying to resolve with this.
For the most part, I believe I was successful with those goals I set for myself. A full graphic novel version (as opposed to a comic book version) of βThe Vampire Armandβ would require at bare minimum 200 or so pages to properly represent just the basic aspects the book. That would come out to perhaps 500 to 1,000 individual panels. Unless I could gather a team of maybe a dozen or so young and energetic apprentices to help with technical details and post-work (just like Marius in the novel β lol), I believe the most I could realistically hope for is for the βgood enoughβ point of artistic quality to be somewhere just above what Iβve accomplished with these three pages. Though I have quite a few more pages in various stages of development (and they are both fun and challenging to do), I am sill not sure if continuing with these and then attempting to acquire copyright use and marketing the results is worth the effort.
Again thank you for your comments. They are both appreciated and helpful.

Thanks much! I have quite a few more pages, but with the Rice text there are copyright issues with posting too many ... so I may at some point upload some without the text.

It takes much, much too long. I tried a simple test (just figure, no background) and wasted a full day to get about 5 seconds of lo-res footage. It would probably be far easier to sell the concept to a studio that could handle it. And I think, just like the attempts of Anne Rice movies, it may not translate well.
