When I was drawing panel 12 of the previous Dark Knight Returns tribute page, I drew Batman in a separate layer with his broken nose and bloody teeth but you couldn´t appreciate it in its full glory because the layer of mutant leader had his huge fist smashing Batman´s face on top, so I decided to make it into a single illustration were all the pain and gory stuff could be appreciated in full detail.
