Republican policy makers have a simple 4 step schema to any problems that arise:
1. There is no problem
2. There may be a problem we are investigating.
3. There is a problem and we are going to develop solutions for it.
4. There was a problem but it's too late to do anything about it now.

The issue now though is that there are some 15 GOP Congressmen who have indicated they will not be standing for re-election. Typically, they won't stand up to MAGAt Republicans and vote down their foolishness, nor will they support any legislation put forward by Democrats. This is cowardice in the extreme. Not just political cowardice, but a moral and ethical disgrace for them personally, and professionally. I really hope that Trump is not re-elected, or is disqualified or is imprisoned so that it gives time for the Republican Party to recognize how they have betrayed the American people.
