Zelda looks like a bean in his hands- a tiny, adorable little bean. Why did Ganondorf name her Zelda? Surely he must have realized it was a sign of the cycle repeating- or did he resignedly accept it out of love and loss of his wife? (One dynamite girl- I see what you did there.) I like how you handled the suddenness of his wife's death- it made us feel it as well.
I notice the servant is holding an umbrella just for baby Zelda. That's adorable!

Yes, he named the baby to honor his late wife more than anything because Ganondorf did abolish the law of naming every Hyrulian royal princess as "Zelda" (which, as ridiculous as it sounds, is canonical to the game series.)

Considering Hyrule somewhat knows of the cycle, the law makes sense. It's basically covering your bets. "This one might be the chosen one- let's give her the name to make sure!"

A bit of both. Hyrule Historia reveals when Hyrule Kingdom was first established, most of the Queens were named Zelda in honor of the mortal reincarnation of the Goddess Hylia (that would be the Zelda in Skyward Sword.)
But the backstory most people know of came in the second Zelda game where it was officiated as a law: According to the backstory of Zelda II, one of the Zeldas' older brother (who's implied to be a dickwad; his only official artwork has him whipping someone) wanted to know the location of the Triforce because a magician told him she knew (he had the other Triforces.) When she refused, the magician placed her under an eternal sleep. Regretful, the Prince ordered all future female descendent heirs to be named Zelda in his sister's honor.

She must've been one dynamite gal; seeing as how Ganondorf had so many to choose from. Or; did he marry outside his tribe? He may be evil; but Im sure most of the tribe agreed he was probably the best looking king they've had. XD
Plots are hard to come up with when it comes to fandom; especially those you want to make without causing friction within it. Some people get so huffy.
Its a cute little comic; but did Ganondorf outlaw the name Link too? XD
