Description I am playing with the notion of altering hands into a more paw-like form, althought I'm not completely convinced just yet, hands are tough to begin with after all.

As you can see, the features of this piece are far more panther-like appearance than my usual blend. I feel this gives her more of a majestic quality in contrast to the almost mischievous character of previous works. She looks like she has something important to tend to, and is not just around to play games.

I am also thinking of adding a tail. I have to figure how it would curl in a realistic way. Right now she would be sitting on it though. I may have to rotate the model's upper body to make it look as if she is sitting in an unusual manner so as to accomodate for the extra appendage. We shall see...

By panther, do you mean mountain lion? She looks more like a leopard..

Other people have noticed other critiques, but my thoughts are do you plan on playing with the toning of the skin/more hair? It'd be interesting to see a more fully-shifted beast :] You obviously have the skills to do so.

Great work on theface, but that blurring issue is around his fingertips in this one.

I will likely post an improved version in the future. I've always considered the possibility of adding a tail to this one.

That'd be neat... where, though? seems a set composition. Can't wait if you do post it anew.

When working with photoshop you can divide an image into layers, which allows you to work on specific parts. Part of using photoshp wisely is allowing yourself to be as flexible as possible. I just realized I should post an animated .gif revealing all of the layers.

I work with PS daily; am aware of its capabilities. : ) But that would be kind of cool to see your works in progress.

I really like what I see here, it fits very smoothly. As for the hands I see it needs only some improvment but hell of a start. I think you should try to thin it out a little more but keep the "claws". Anyways keep up the excellent work, Heck if you need any stock photo's let me know and I could get Kaden to take some of me and put it up on DA.

Hm...it's really good...The ends of her "paws", and the ears, both look a little CGed...(Ears are too smooth + shiny, and the paws are actually sorta blurred near the end...)

Ya, that's exactly what I need to mess with. I will most likely redo them.

Lovely Manip, I give a critiqe if I could but anything I would say has already been said, 'cept that maybe her ears are a touch to small, but that could be because their partly hidden by her hair.

Ya, I played with the size of her ears quite a bit. I settled on this size partly because her hair, and the TF is tending towards a lioness, and their ears are relatively small.

Makes sense. Like I said I can't really help. Don't know manipulations that well since I don't have any programs that could handle it. (I have paint and that's it.)

Woah, Neo, this is your best work yet. Looks very natural. The hand looks great

Couple suggestions, run the ear tip through a noise filter, it looks a little too smooth. Might want to take a hard look at the lighting on the muzzle and face. Lastly I'm not sure whiskers would be visable at that distance and the angle doesn't look quite right.

Great work, had to really look closely to come up with those critiques.

Pounce, your comments are always welcome. Thank you SO much for having such an eagle eye for detail. These are the sort of comments I expect from the folks at DA. You are right, the whiskers are a bit sharp and can stand some softening, as well as the ear can be integrated with a bit of noise... I think the issue with the angle may involve playing with the shadows, or maybe if I simply compress them, thus fauxing perspective. The right side of the face has some faulty shadows that I have to take a look at.

It's a tricky angle, but I was motivated by an artist named ~Provolvere . He and I had a little conversation about the challenges of adding muzzles to humans at a 3/4 view. I realized I didn't have too many examples of this, so.

oooh, that is one tough woman! I would not want to get on her bad side. I like her hands. They are already thicker and more catlike, enough to believe she could walk on them if she had to run on all fours, so I personally wouldn't make them More pawlike but that's just me. As for the tail, the biggest mistake most artists make is imagining that they start at the top of the back of the hips instead of remembering that it's only about two inches above the anus. I think if you had it arc up from between her legs and go over the leg to the right. Because, then it would be creased between her cheeks and the ground... shrug... just my thoughts in response to a fantastic picture and your comments.

Your fan,

Will.

NeoZoan In reply to Wolfjacobs [2005-04-18 08:28:59 +0000 UTC]

Well, she is slouching a tiny bit... I actually had a discussion with someone once regarding how people would sit if they had tails... I suggested we would kind of lie on our sides in order to accomodate for the appendage. The other possiblity is that chairs would universally have space to fit the tail, although I'm not cute sure that would be comfortable either.

As always, thanks for the comments. You always have a lot of insight in regards to making the unreal real.
