when i saw =MorisMontana 's species i just had to draw one. so this is what i came up with. his colors are based off a king cheetah, a rare species of cheetah.im really happy with this. and i dont have a name for him but maybe ill think of one later.

just photoshop 7 brushes. i used a base layer with the color and patterns on it, then another layer that i drew the fur in with like a size 6 brush and then another layer with more fur in a size 3 brush for detail.

Nice. I love the effect of the fur. By the by, you loose the details in the JPGs because it's a lossy format.

do you know of any other formats i could use that dont loose detail and that work for DA? that would be a big help.

The Help files for DA indicate they support PNG format. This format is not lossy, like .jpg, and supports photographic images well.
Also, .png allows transparency (it actually has more levels of transparency than .gif). PNG is widely supported by all the current versions of the major browsers.
The .png format was created when Compuserve (who invented .gif) was planning to copyright the GIF format and make people pay to use it.
THAT SAID, the better quality image you put on DA the higher the possibility of it being stolen. Either to just be used on someone's site, uncredited, as something pretty or actually slapped into someone else's portfolio.
This is the internet, and people can use Google's image search and other non-DA ways of seeing your art.
So, weigh that when you consider the file format you use.

hmm ok. that makes sense. ive used .png before but only for pictures with no background. i didnt know it was better for detail.
ive decided ill upload things in .png, even though there is i risk of art theft. i just hope no one steals anything.

Ethemaroux can't have such noses ._. However, the tip of his nose can be very dark, and therefore it can look like canine nose.
