Just a quick drawing of Marilyn looking sad.--
This is an image of Marilyn I've had stuck in head for a looong time! Nearly 8 years, in fact!
The idea for this image was inspired by the track "MoMA Sad" from "The Danny Elfman & Tim Burton 25th Anniversary Music Box: Oddities and Ends" soundtrack: youtu.be/TIVbhQfA8XU
I still listen to this soundtrack on YouTube from time to time, along with various other Elfman/Burton inspired soundtracks via my playlist "BurtonElfman Mix" (www.youtube.com/playlist?list=… ), whenever I feel like drawing something Tim Burton inspired, especially when it comes to Marilyn.
I'm so glad I finally got around to drawing this! xD

What program did you use for this? I really like the lineart here. Trying to work on mine since I just got a drawing tablet

I just use Microsoft Paint. I sketch all of my drawings traditionally, scan them into my computer, and do the linework/coloring with Microsoft Paint.

Really? But paint doesnt have layers or a line stablizer which seem pretty essential. That's rather impressive.

Trust me. I've had A LOT of time to figure out all the bells and whistles of Paint to get it to do what I want it to do.

I feel like she's going to recite a Jim Steinman monologue or burst out one of his ballads any second (I always pictured her reciting Shadows on the Freeway , albeit toned down slightly.). Or maybe this is just the beginning of the Original Sin number. Ah well, I can speculate.

Maybe it's the fact that we enjoy seeing them so happy all the time, that when they suddenly put on a sad face or fall into some sort of depression, we get rather concerned.

So now here we have "Sad Marilyn". From the way I see it, you announced that you were retiring her and then began drawing those fetish pics. And Marilyn all this time was standing somewhere outside the borders of the "art realm", looking at the stuff you've been doing, and perhaps feeling like she was abandoned for something more "pleasurable" at your age.
I know you said you were running out of ideas for her and wanted to try something new. But after seeing this image, I couldn't help but imagine this scenario.

It's okay. I can understand why you would think this way. In fact, someone else already commented how they thought Marilyn was sad here because she hasn't been seen on my DA profile in a while.
Like I said before, I wanted to wait until I had some new ideas and felt inspired to draw Marilyn again. Her 10th Anniversary seemed like the most appropriate time to bring her back (For a short while, anyway).
