Dustin is transgender and had a baby at 16 a few years before he came out. That baby is his little boy Russell. While his grandparents did their best to help Dustin he still struggled being a single teen dad. He graduated high school at 19 and didn’t go to college. He worked odd jobs to help his grandparents with the bills. One day he saw Flight of the Hearts looking for a bassist. He knew them from local gigs they played and saw a chance to make his love of music his life and give his son a shot at a better life. The risk in the end would pay off!
