Description
As a result of many conflicts and territorial claims in the region the Great Powers decided to create a neutral state called Rumelia (Turkey in Europe). There were five main nationalities in the newly created country - Bulgarian, Serbian, Greek, Albanian and Turkish (with Aromanian minorities). Every country funded its people in Rumelia. It was (mainly) under Balkan states and France's protection in case of invasion. Rumelia was created after the unification of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia (1885) and existed till the end of the Great War when it was peacefully partitioned between Bulgaria, Serbia and Greece. The Kingdom of Albania was created as independent state. The Ottoman Empire didn't join the First World War due to instability and later gave up on any claims on Rumelia. After the partition the Balkan states (including the Ottomans) signed a treaty - the new borders are internationally recognized and none of the countries has claims on the others. A project no one truly believed in that succeeded and saved millions of lifes. Even after the partition, the people live in peace thanks to the special relations created during the "Rumelia"period.
