Tier XII "Innocence Gone" for Veres 7493

Sometimes unexpected things happen in life. One day, you’re going along, enjoying life, and then something’s taken from you and it’s gone forever. Learning to cope with loss and come out the other side is fundamental to mental wellness.

Eir was old and both Veres and Momo knew she wouldn't live forever but her looming death always seemed so far away. When she got sick they expected her to bounce back and berate them for worrying so much, as she did before but instead the elder woman just got weaker and weaker. One morning her chest simply stilled, the Kukuri and child by her side until the end.

But the time for grieving hadn't come for them yet, they still had a job to do. So they spent the day seeking wood and assembling it to a pyre to give the kind elder that allowed them to become a small family a proper goodbye.

When night fell they finally had enough sticks and branches. Veres carefully brought her to their makeshift pyre and laid her down, while Momo watched, torch in her hand.

The flames were ignited and the two stuck close to each other as they watched the little flame grow into a bonfire, slowly consuming the familiar form and allowing Eir's spirit to be free.

I sketched this up for the MQ but remembered that this was a scene I planned for Veres' training so I suppose I accidentally started my next training project :'D I will probably bond my birbs first though, I'm excited for that.

I really like how this turned out though, the background was all one layer and it honestly was a lot more relaxing than expected. Also I love how those rocks turned out. And! this may have dragged me out of my artblock so that's cool o/
