Unidentified shield bug on unidentified wild grass. For me Hemipterans are to insects what alcelaphine antelopes are to living mammals. and to think that not long ago I was convinced they are just kind of beetles

Hi there, this is a great shot! These are cool-looking bugs ... I don't know them at all well but we do have a great diversity of bug species here in South Africa.

Terrific shot! It's a gorgeous beetle, so camouflaged but also so golden and special-looking. Looks like someone folded it into existence. And it seems to have an expression on its face: "Hi, I'm me!"
