Description
What if Mantyke had been introduced in the 2nd generation of Pokémon games, Gold, Silver and Crystal?Is it just me, or does Mantyke have the best Pokémon name ever?

Funny, given how both Remoraid and Mantine existed in Gen II, they could have introduced Mantyke in that generation. Or alternatively, since they both appear in Gen III, namely FireRed and LeafGreen, they could have introduced it then. In fact, several Gen IV Pokemon could have easily been Gen III Pokemon instead, like Happiny and Electrivire, why did Gamefreak wait so long? It was the perfect time, instead we only got Azurill and Wynaut.

Dunno, I heard Gastrodon was originally planned for Gen III, so I'd chalk it up to time constraints. Perhaps they felt they already had enough new Pokémon and saved some for Gen IV?

You may have a point there. It still would have been nice if they introduced more Evolutions / Pre-Evolutions for the Pokemon introduced prior to Gen III though, too help it tie into what came before. But then again, that's what fan fics are for, right?
