Man this looks awesome! I always love looking at your sketches, they feel so realistic and pop out of the page all while like you say so dang fluid. Do you have any advice on how you make your sketches look so realistic? I draw from photos but when I see the photo I don't see how you could make a drawing like this, and my lines always look either too cartoony or super scratchy.

Thank you so much! In terms of advice, I would say that I look up to the original reference constantly. And you know, I mean every few seconds checking nearly every single line. That's how I develop a visual library, because the premise to getting realistic work is to draw what you see and not what you think you see, which a lot of artists get muddled up.Β
With scratchy lines, I generally draw quite scratchy anyway, but only for base lay ins and then I go over the top with the same utensil just harder so the thicker lineweight overrides that of the light scratchy lines xD Try ghosting it helps owo

Thank you for replying!
Visual library is a term I hear thrown out a lot but I have to admit I don't feel I have a complete understanding of what that is and don't feel I've leveled up on in any way. I feel i'm drawing what I'm seeing but I can't help but feel my eyes just aren't seeing the mistakes until way after the damage has been done.
I've tried ghosting well but to no avail. I still can't get that professional quantity "finished" line. Its not as easy as they show in the movies! Β I've even tried taking up calligraphy and still I can't understand it.Β

Ahh it's no problem, I've been meaning to reply to your other message too but I accidentally deleted it so I keep forgetting xDΒ
Visual library put basically is the collection of "images" you've seen or experienced in your life. So, even just looking at photographs or walking around the countryside looking at the scenery is expanding that library but unless you draw what you see you're not actually remembering that information fully. The best way to expand your visual library is to just draw everything as much as possible. Can't draw a rock? Take a photograph, draw it a few hundred times and you'll be able to apply that information in other drawings without having to look at reference. And to tackle the whole "I don't feel like I'm drawing what I'm seeing" just, look at the reference more times than you actually draw lines so your eyes are taking in more information than your hands if that makes sense?
I'm tired of hearing "can't" from you lol are you sure it's because you can't or you just won't? Give me something positive I've heard a world of problems from you and that's not helping your improvement

Yeah I get really lazy sometimes, sorry it's been so long for this too, my internet's been acting up the past week xDΒ
Well I'm glad it made sense to you because I don't think it came out quite as clear as I'd wanted :') I'm also happy that's working for you! There's a solution to every problem even if you might not think so, generally focusing on the negatives clouds your vision and halts your progress. You were always stating your artwork is not good or you're not improving, when you are, it just might not be in the areas you wish you improve. This could help you understand more the process of developing, even if you don't necessarily draw humans, the principle is the same:
Don't apologise, I shouldn't have snapped really. I guess I haven't come across anyone yet where nothing seems to help! People are different, something that works well for one person may do nothing for another, I'm the same, you just have to find your niche and improve and draw in a way that suits you. Experimentation is key to the success of an artist! And you forget how much work those people have put into their artwork, I draw every single day and I may only get a few pages of good work in a month. I've done thousands upon thousands of drawings in the time I've been an artist, and I'm still considering an amateur in many lights! It'll take you a length of time to reach that as well, just work hard and enjoy what you do, the passion brings the improvements
