Description After a long time a new submission... and this time Ness, from the game Earthbound (Mother, in japan).
For the fans of stats, he's 5500 polys.
... I'm very satisfied, it came out pretty much like the official art. Well he lacks the backpack but... more in a while...

his head is much more round in the clay model, and hes a bit more filled in. other than that, it looks great!

It's not a clay model, it's 3D!
Anyway thanks.

I know its 3D, haha. I just noted his head is rounder. I like the great details you got in there, thats some awesome stuff.

What program'd you use?

Ahh this is pretty sweet, I use 3ds Max 8 too, but i don't do enough character modeling.
Did you use NURBS smoothing for ness?
And did you make a UVW unwrap for the textures? or some other method?

are you planning on animating him and does he have a skeleton?

(haha, lots of questions...)

I used a MeshSmooth modifier with the NURBS smoothing method (you know there's also Classic and Quad Output). Yeah, I did an unwrap and painted the texture by hand in Photoshop.
And I was planning to animate him, in fact he has a skeleton, but I didn't weight the vertexes. I'll post the textures in the scraps, I'll send you a note when I do it.
And thanks for the 'sweet'.

your welcome
I'm not very good with unwraps or skeletons, and i will probably never attempt to weigh vertecies.
The most i did was set up a lousy bone structure and try a few IKs, which barely worked at all.
