I had sketched Shadow/Mekion down there, and started thinking about what else to put in the background.And I figured, why not draw all of my versions of the Sonic characters? In my fanfics, they've all got freaking awesome powers. In fact, they might actually be TOO powerful. I have a bad case of power creep.
So I keep crippling them with things like relationships. Sure, you could punch a hole through the planet, but wouldn't that upset your girlfriend? Yeeeeeeah.
Or in Mecha's case, he's just crippled. OH WAIT that fic's not finished yet. Heh heh heh.

I actually do a similar thing, I usually make sonic characters really freaking powerful, but balance it out by making them having attitude problems up the ass

Alas, I haven't been working on it. I've discovered that working on a massive Sonic fic while pregnant is a bad thing, because my brain capacity shrinks to nothing. I'll get it done once my brain returns.

Heck no. Well, except Sonic, and that's "kill" in quotation marks because he was "killed" in Sonic 360.
I find that it's more fun to ALMOST kill a character, than to really do it. More nailbiting from the reader.

I still think that the scene in 360 where Sonic gets `killed' is hilarious though - I knew Sega weren't going to kill him off.

Well done, I dig the painterly, stark, dark mood of this one. I LOVE Knux's face here, not sure why. I think it's because it's all "I has a emerald! It RAWKS."
But at least with Sonic and Knuckles, you could take their power sources away, Shadow is unstable and quite often in pain, and as you say, Mecha is disabled in some way.
Always good to avoid god-modding.

I guess it depends on the stories I wind up needing to tell. They all need their power sources at one point or another, but they just don't use them that much. It's like the remark at the beginning of the Incredibles: "Can you imagine Elastigirl at the supermarket? I mean, come on!"
Sometimes they have to do normal.

I love all the different colour effects - they really blend together into a stunning poster image. I especially like the Floating Island looking all dark and mysterious behind Knuckles, although the sparkly emerald effects are really pretty too. X3

Sonic is looking very two-dimensional today. ... You really botched him, to be honest. He has no neck, one of his head-spines is partially coming from his back, and his right arm is just sort of floating there. The tan part of his stomach looks completely detachable from the rest of his body, his left arm in the background is much thicker than his right one - surely you know of foreshortening? - and his left elbow looks... off, somehow. Maybe this is a stylistic choice, but his tail is nearly nonexistent.
Mecha's yellow "stomach" is missing, but I understand you have really modified him so I'll be willing to leave that alone.
Knuckles' left elbow(our right) has an extremely thick outline against his dread - I can't figure out if it's because his dread is too bright or if his arm is too dark, but that brings me to another point on the whole; for some reason your lighting effects are extremely inconsistent. Logically things closer to the respective light source would be brighter, but that isn't quite the case. At many points in the picture, things that are further away are much brighter than things that are right up against the source; arms seem to be the biggest offender, such as both of Sonic's arms(the one closer to the emerald is largely darker), as well as the aforementioned Knuckles' arm vs dread. Back to Knuckles, his right shoe seems to be a little crooked; the top part seems to be facing the viewer a little more than the bottom of the shoe seems to imply, and overall both of his shoes seem to be of differing and illogical sizes.
Lastly, the only thing I really see with Shadow is that his top-right spine(closest fleshy to the middle) seems to be overlapping his top/middle one in a way that should not be the case. I think the angle should make his middle spine to be covering the base; instead it looks like Shadow has a horn.

A true artist is always searching for critique, regardless of the presence or absence of options you have to pay for to use. Improvement will never come from empty praise.
I haven't seen her improve much over the past five years - just the same, I haven't seen anyone really sit down and try to help.
I'll let her decide whether I'm a troll or the best help in the world. You? I have no idea who you are, so your orders hold no water here. If for some reason I were to check your work out though I would keep your orders in mind.
