Yes, his name is play on the fact that the series is aired on Amazon Prime .

After I finish the current Comic, I am going to put together a mini series based on Prime. Of course after the series itself is over so I can get all the information before writing a side story to the series. The Story will follow Subject Zero/ Prime. While in the series, they state that the Amazon Cells were discovered when trying to develop Artificial life, Prime will be known as the Catalyst that created the Cells.

Prime also known as Daisuke (name of the original Amazon), was born with an unusual Cellular disease which caused his body to be very weak when his body was trying to recover. This was due to his cellular disease being a rare form of advance cellular recovery. Due to this unusual recovery system, he would wind up sick again after his quick recovery, causing an endless cycle of pain. The Nozoma Pharmaceutical company took notice of this and requested his family to allow them to find a cure of him.

His blood samples were eventually used as a catalyst to produce the explosive reproduction of the Amazon Cells. Daisuke was eventually given a version of the Amazon Cells which led to him being Subject Zero after he began to mutate into Amazon.

What makes him different than the other Amazons is that he does not need Proteins to keep his hunger in check due to his cells being able to stop the over acceleration of those cells. Tho this interm fixed Daisuke's weakness after his cells begin to heal.

Gigi Armlet: The Gigi Armlet in actuality a replica of a relic his family kept after a trip to south America when they were researching the Inca (Amazon reference.) The replica was some what a security blanket for Daisuke. It was broken when he mutated, and was rebuilt as a tracker along with a suppressant

Amazon Driver: This device was produce around the time the 3rd Amazon appears. They produced another one for Daisuke to control his mutation, allowing him to revert to his human form with ease.
