A lot of you seem to forget that while Axis does act like a moron and run around doing stupid things on impulse most of the time, he's that way for a reason. He's insane and enjoys that state of mind. But, that does not exempt the fact that he can and will try kill you because he feels like it.
No, he's not trying to kill Minimus, just shake her up and let her know he's not a mech to be trifled with. I guess this is my way to say that, yeah, he's the joker/butt of the joke of the guard, but he's still dangerous.

It all depends on what kind of impact you make on Axis. *shrug* I mean, for him, some people are like background noise--he can chose to ignore them or listen--and it all depends on whether or not he finds them interesting enough to talk to. For him, you have to make an impact for him to notice and remember you.
Take Half Pint for example--he knows that he can twist things around and ruffle her feathers and he can USE that to his advantage in some situations. It also depends on how bored he is and if he's willing to talk with just about anyone in the general vicinity.
