Description Possibly the most awkward shot I have ever taken.

I visited wareham after yet another failed trip to Corfe Castle in the hopes of some misty in the valleys. Typically heavy mist and fog everywhere except around corfe.

This is the River Frome as it runs through wareham. I was in place an hour before sunrise but I had to walk to find the shot I wanted - boats lined up in the mist.

However - not so simple. Hedgerow runs all the way along the public foot path meaning I just couldn't get the angle or clean composition I wanted.

The solution - go back to car, retrieve wellies, head back and wade out into the middle of the river. At least that was the plan. I got 3 foot into the river and it suddenly sunk unto my knees. No further could I go and still couldn't get the shot as clean on the right hand side so I did a slight crop on this piece to exclude some rogue reeds and unattractive boat mast sprouting up from behind them.

Anyway enjoy.

This is an amazing shot. Firstly the colors are just out of this world. Really soft and muted colors with gives the image the feel of tranquility and piece. This is added to by the fact that there aint any people in the shot as well as by the reflections in the water. Despite the horizon being smack in the middle of the image, the picture itself is easy on the eye and seems well balanced. I think that might be the result of the boats being positioned in and angle within the image. Composition therefore works well here and the receeding point of view adds depth and a 3d effect to the image. Overall I love it xx

I wanted to write an educated, well-written comment with some substance to it, but I don't really know what to say.
I guess that I really like it, and the shot was worth the trouble. It looks more beautiful every time I look at it.

My home town!
The river drops off STEEPLY on both sides (the tow path, and obviously the man-made quayside).
Lovely shot, one of the best I have seen of this stretch of the river.

cheers buddy I took quite a few shots from the water but liked this version the best. I prefered the landscape oritnations for the depth tho.

Great shot and well worth the effort, you captured the scene beautifully.

After going to all that trouble to get the perfect shot why didn't you clone out the dust spot about a 3rd of the way in from the bottom right corner? Ha Ha!
