Description: A large predator that is the stuff of nightmares. It looks like a hybrid between fish, insect, and chameleon but its part of a species of angler fish and hunt in different ways. They use their legs to cling onto thick geothermal vents and watch as a large fish or mammal swims by and then they silently swim after it and launch their large tongue that is twice the size of its body and can drag prey back to it's bear trap like jaws that are lined with three pairs of teeth. Another tactic they use is crawling along the ocean floor flicking its lure and attracting other fish and once they are close enough they quickly open its mouth and that sucks the prey in and devoured it quickly. Their tongue has small toothy projections that can stab into the prey and also the tongue is incredibly sticky and is extremely hard to get off of. Their fins are lined with spines that can move in order for some defense. They are the main prey for the much larger Claw fish and attempt to swim away but the claw fish is larger and faster and can easily crunch through its armor. They are mouth brooders and the eggs are held in the males mouth and he keeps them safe for around 10 weeks and then once the babies hatch they stay with the parent till they are around 20 weeks old. They lurk amongst the geothermal vents and cold seeps and have strong eyesight in order to see the lights of prey and predators. They can live for around 100 years.
