Oil pastels, made in 2010, reference used.A friend of mine asked me to make a painting of her dog. She seemed very happy with the results so i guess i did a good job
I love his "eyebrows" hahaha

fantastic! i have been interested in making animal portraits for a while now but since I am a beginner, I cannot even begin to imagine how to get enough definition with oil pastel. Maybe my pastels are too soft. I am using Senellier, although I have used cray-pas, faber castell and loew cornell.

oh thank you! senellier are the most famous pastels so i dont think u can blame it on them, you just need to practice some more!

As much as I hate using oil pastels myself, I like this painting a lot (and it gives me some ideas about giving oil pastels another chance LOL). Love the tones in fur you achieved and his look is just right. Well done!

you know, i actually HATED them myself! one day my teacher at school made me try them out and make a serious painting, not just doodles like i had before and it turned out better than i thought. and you probably know how it is, once u find something youre pretty good at, u keep doing it ^_^ thank you for your sweet comment, makes me so happy!
