It was the first actual warm day of the year and running on inside tracks or in complete winter snow gear was getting boring. Walking back from a nice bath, Tahlia reached up and swung herself up onto the now taller-than-her Cedar, enjoying the feel of her cat beneath her. Tank top, shorts, and wild hair, Tahlia grinned.
"Want to try and go for a run, girl?" The neighbors had said that the sand back tracks they used for their event horses was opening up nicely this spring, nicely enough that paws surely could grip the surface for a training run. And worst come to worst she'd have a nice soft landing, right? A lazy trotting pace and Cedar was up and over the property fence, and from there quickly picking up speed. Tahlia held tight, lower leg swinging loose to avoid constricting Cedar's shoulder, hands gripped into a fine mane and a grin upon her face. This was the life. Now, hopefully her youngster would listen properly...
