I should preface my critique by saying that I can't draw worth a damn so I am always in awe of artists that can draw. I am, however, a professional photographer and a connoisseur of bondage art. I have liked newdeaart's work for a long time (admittedly as a lurker) and I like this drawing.

Things I like about it. The woman's expression is perfect. The little marks above her head show her confusion. Love the gag - the fact that the knot and ends of the cloth gag are shown. Often that is not the case. How a gag is drawn is important to my liking a drawing. I also appreciate the bra strap being off her shoulder and the nipples showing through the bra. Details like that make a drawing much better. The rope work is well-done. It is obvious that she has been chloroformed - arsenedaubrecq's significant fetish. I am a fan of his work also.

There is only one real problem with the drawing - what I assume is the woman's arm behind the chair under the top of the chair just doesn't seem right. The ropes around the arm make the arm appear very large (to me). I think the arm should have disappeared behind the body sooner. I realize that this is a minor point. Probably no one else would notice this, but I am a photographer.

There is another issue I would like to point out. This is one of those optional things that a lot of bondage artists ignore (and in my opinion shouldn't). We know what is going on because of a small note that says that she was robbed. Fair enough. I know the OC Laura Mischief is involved, but without the note, one wouldn't know if she was kidnapped, robbed or something else. A simple background with items on the floor and drawers pulled out would have been nice and would show that she had been robbed (independent of the note). Yes, it is more work, but there is a really neat reflection on the floor. Why not a background also? I realize that the background is optional, but it would have improved the drawing.

All in all, an excellent bondage drawing.

Fair enough! Glad you enjoyed the image but also that you took the time to point those details out! It's great to have feedback to improve more and more. Thanks!Β

I have been watching Dea off and on for nearly 20 years, long before I ever heard of Deviant Art.Β  He has a wonderful style that I have always liked.Β  His way of drawing scarf gags so the ends fall down over the captive's shoulders is a particular favorite of mine.Β  Beats the look of a ballgag anytime!

Agreed.Β  I also have followed Dea for many years prior to DA.Β  And you know how I feel about scarf gags. Β  The ends of a scarf gag (or a scarf being worn certain ways by a woman) being visible in a picture or drawing is actually erotic for me.Β  Not quite sure why, but that detail has always been important to me.Β

I like it too.Β  And it could be the ends of a scarf tied about her head as a blindfold, too.Β  To me it seems to increase the effect of helplessness, with the ends hanging down and signifying that's she gagged and/or blindfolded, moving as she moves much as long hair might.Β  A lot of Dea's work from when I first ran across his art around maybe 2005 seemed to have this detail

Been watching episodes of Route 66, which were made 1960 thru 1964.Β  There is the occasional woman wearing a headscarf that you might like to see.Β  Most recent one I recall was in Play it Glissando, with Anne Francis playing the unstable wife of temperamental and also unstable husband Jack Lord, as a trumpet player.Β  The stereotype 'tortured artist'!Β  The stories can be uneven, but you can't beat the premise of two young drifters driving around the USA in the early 1960's in a 1960 Corvette.Β  Especially since the stories were, as far as I can tell and from what I read, were mostly filmed on location in various actual locations.Β  The America of that time was different, with more regional differences and few if any major nationwide restaurants, etc.

I know Route 66 - have seen most of the episodes.Β  A few nice headscarf scenes, including one show where the two female leads wore them during most of the show.Β  Only one bondage scene where one of the guys is tied to a chair and gagged for a short period.Β  Naked City, which runs with Route 66 where I am, is designed to be very realistic - quite a few headscarves with people on the street and even some of the main characters.Β  Again, only one or two episodes with bondage and it was guys tied up.

Started watching an episode of Naked City, the first, but stopped.Β  It might have been too realistic and gritty.Β  Maybe when I get thru all the Route 66 episodes, I will try again.Β  Then there is 77 Sunset Strip to think about too.Β

Already have watched a lot of the Peter Gunn episodes.Β  I like them, but they are dated, especially with the relationship with his girlfriend Edie.Β  Basically, usually, he shows up at the club where she is singing, they talk, sometimes kiss,Β  then a client or a phone call drags him away, while she whines.Β  At least twice she has gotten kidnapped by bad guys out to get him.Β  After the danger is over and she is rescued, she faints. Β  Like a commenter stated on an episode of another series I watched, Department S, who happened to be the original writer of that episode, the shows are of their time.

I have watched all of 77 Sunset Strip - one of my favorites.Β  A fair amount of bondage and a few headscarves.Β  I have a whole bunch of shows recorded.Β  I have used a few scenes as inspiration for my stories.Β  One of the scenes (very short) went directly into an Angela Morris story.

I have watched all of the Peter Gunn episodes.Β  It could have been better, but the music was great.Β  I have also watched a lot of episodes of series of that time period from other countries (on YouTube).

There was another short-lived PI show - forget the name.Β  Two women are kidnapped.Β  The PI confronts the bad guy in his office and overpowers him.Β  In the last scene.Β  The two kidnapped women are there and the blonde says something like - Sorry we couldn't warn you, but we were tied and gagged in the next room - a scene we never saw, but she said it as if she had been getting her hair done. Happens every day. Β  I think the other lady was a bit more distressed. Still, it was priceless.

The fact is that being of their time period is what I like about these shows (fainting girls excluded).Β  Crime was simpler than today. Β

I enjoy them.Β  Have a DVD set of the 1950's black and white version of Dragnet with Jack Webb.Β  Very different from the 1960's version we watched when I was growing up. For one thing, he's thinner, younger and wears a hat. Β Β  More serious and not campy like the color episodes.Β  Yet there was one episode where he and another cop are doing a stakeout in a closet waiting for the bad guys to show up.Β  The dialog was priceless, talking about how cramped and uncomfortable it was, all very deadpan.
