Description  Marcus Marchant i.e. born in 1922,  boy who turned out to have an extraordinary talent for archery and could probably even start a professional sports career, but unfortunately, he was born in Berlin to a Jewish doctor and teacher. This meant that Marcus was Jewish himself, and therefore in 1938 his sports career was interrupted by the outbreak of Kristallnacht, which caused his parents to die while giving him the opportunity to escape, and he ended up hiding in the street.
More specifically, he ended up hiding in the streets, hating the Nazis so much that he quickly joined the underground resistance movement known as the "Berlin Golems" which effectively fought them with various acts of sabotage. Well, or at least they did so until one of them betrayed them for his own benefit, because then their group was broken and they were transported to different death camps in the Third Reich.
Thus, Marcus's group forcibly disbanded, and he ended up in Auschwitz Birkenau, where he spent the next three years until the Nazis forced him to test a new poison gas known as "Jormurgand" on him, which, fortunately for him, did not work as well as the Nazis predicted. Even on the contrary, despite the initial apparent success, which resulted in Marcus' "body" being transported to a mass grave, it did not kill him, and even more so. This gave him superpowers that included, not counting enhanced durability, superhuman physical prowess, and enhanced hearing and vision.
In short, it gave him powers that were enough to help him escape the convoy, but they were too small on their own for him to wage an effective fight against the Nazis. So, right after escaping, Marcus, who had abhorred firearms since his parents were shot, picked up his bow and arrows again and went to fight the Nazis.
More specifically, he went into this fight until the end of the war with the intention of continuing this mission also after the war as a superhero, but nothing came of it. All because shortly after the war in the 1950s, his paths crossed with Nathan Silver, who believed that Marcus was eager to join his cause and was very angry when he turned down his generous offer.
Even worse, he simply didn't recognize the refusal and, in order to prove himself right to Marcus and get the potential threat out of the way, he forcibly locked him in the cryo-chamber. He intended to wake up Marcus when he achieved his goal, but, unfortunately for him, this plan failed, because a power failure allowed Marcus to escape and resume the fight against evil, especially with him under the pseudonym Reborn, as the one who twice " died and came back to life."
